Ex-Dedham Firefighter Dies At 53, Remembered As 'Local Hero'

A retired firefighter and Navy veteran is being remembered for his service and his love for his family.

Kevin Davis, who served the Dedham community as a firefighter, died on Wednesday, May 24 at the age of 53, according to his obituary. 

"We are devastated to announce the passing of former DFD firefighter Kevin Davis," reads a Dedham Fire Department Facebook post. "He will be greatly missed and his memory will live on with us forever."

Davis, formerly of West Roxbury, proudly served in the Navy as a seabee before becoming a longtime Dedham firefighter, according to the post and his obituary. 

"Kevin will always be remembered for his infectious smile that lit up a room," his obituary reads. "No matter who you were or how long Kevin knew you, he always made you feel loved and special with a heart larger than life."

Davis was a "loving and proud" father to three children, Amanda, Christopher, and Andrew, all of whom live in Dedham. 

He leaves behind a loving network of friends in addition to a devoted extended family. 

A visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, May 31 and his funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, June 1.
